On September 16, the People's Committee of Thong Nhat Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province had an initial report on the case of a collective poisoning occurred at Ton Duc Thang Secondary School, Pleiku City, causing many students to be hospitalized.
Accordingly, in the morning of the same day, on the occasion of the Mid -Autumn Festival, the Representative Board of the parents of grade 7/1, Duc Thang Secondary School organized for students of the festival in the form of milk tea each student 1 cup.

At about 9:30 am on the same day, some children showed signs of abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, the Board of Directors announced that Thong Nhat Ward Health Station came to check, verify and support.
The initial verification results recorded the total number of 7/1 students present 45 students.In which 11 children have not drinked milk tea.Of the 34 children who have drank, 21 children show signs of abdominal pain, dizziness, vomiting.
17 children were later welcomed by their parents, 4 children were taken to health facilities to monitor and examine.
After the incident, the People's Committee of Thong Nhat ward has directed the specialized agencies to directly check, take food samples and regularly monitor the health of the students' health.
Mr. Do Viet Hung, Chairman of Pleiku City People's Committee, said that he had assigned an interdisciplinary inspection team to check and clarify the cause of the incident.
